The Land Founding A LitRPG Saga Chaos Seeds Volume 1 Aleron Kong Books

I stared at the headline of this review for far too long trying to think of something that might actually succeed in capturing the attention of someone considering setting out on their adventure in The Land. Ultimately, I decided that I would fail to capture the spirit of my recommendation in such a short space, so I just threw something in there. I have made it a mission of mine over the past few months, as I have progressed through each book of this series, to introduce as many of my friends to The Land as possible. I will admit that I did not know what to expect when I started, and it took a few chapters before the true limitless possibilities of this adventure began to sink in, but Aleron has created something special here. Anyone who has ever played a video game or table top rpg will find themselves wrapped up in the delight and anticipation of character growth and development at a much more literal level. Fans of magic and fantasy stories will be introduced to a world with rules and mechanics that characters must abide by while satisfying their thirst for adventure. Every time I find myself thinking that the most epic turn of events has taken place, The Land continues to deliver surprise after surprise. I can't recommend this enough, and my only complaint is that I'm almost done with the last published book and am going to be rather sad while I wait for book 8. I have a 90 minute commute to work each day, and I typically listen to The Land for at least two hours of my ride. Nick Podehl is an unbelievable narrator, and anyone who happens to get the audio book version of this story is in for quite a treat. I am envious of anyone who has not started this series, as getting to experience for the first time has been a literal joy ride.

Cheers.

The Land Founding A LitRPG Saga Chaos Seeds Volume 1 Aleron Kong Books Reviews

I didn't order this book and it downloaded itself. It's okay, just not my cup of tea. Rating based on unfinished read.
It’s not a bad story. I want t like it but the farther you get into it the Moore it devolves. It eventually turns into a bunch of conversations that you would expect from crass junior high boys. Like I said I liked the story at first but the further I got the worse it got until I regretted ever starting the series. By the fourth book every time the main character speaks it’s a bad penis joke. Don’t make the same mistake as me and get four books in hoping it gets better before you find it’s just unbearable please just don’t waste your time on this series. You’ll feel better about yourself if you don’t. I don’t normally write reviews but I feel strong enough about this that I felt I should warn you all.
I found this series by accident. LitRPG wasn't something I had read before. This book definitely was the best I could have possibly started with! I've since read the entire series and there is never a dull moment! Not only does The Land make me wish it was an actual game I could play, it helps take the edge off when I don't have the free time to game. Aleron Kong does an amazing job with all characters! They are engaging, interesting, and there isn't a single one that you won't enjoy. This book is an amazing introduction to a world you won't want to walk away from!
I just have to agree with all of the other 5 star ratings of this book. I was skeptical at first... who wants to read about D&D type of gaming adventures... or read a gaming Isekai (a normal person being transported to or trapped in a parallel universe). I was pleasantly surprised. Basically, I could not put this book down. Imagine yourself being carted away to another world, based on a game that has rules from various environments such as D&D, Black Desert, Warcraft and the like. Where quick thinking and decisive action can be your survival.

Kong does a great job building up the world, and the various characters in the story. I felt connected to Richter, the main character, who struggles with his new life, but uses strategy and tactics he learned from being a gamer to grow and survive.

Aleron also throws in a few references of the modern day, clichés, and references. This was cool... nicely done...

if you like Anime like Sword Art Online or Overlord and the like, and you like to feel the exhilaration of leveling up from games like Guild Wars, Black Desert Online or the classic D&D, you will enjoy this book. (FYI, I have read all 7 in this series in a week, and I cant wait for #8) ...
So who writes a review after reading the 7th book? But then, who reads a review OF the 7th book? It was this first of the series that hooked me. And let me say that I'm not the right demographic....too old and no RPG experience....turned based strategy (Civ 5)...and I still really liked the book....now books. The writing is good, the character development is great, and a whole world has been created.....who can do that. There is enough building Richter's game and skill levels that the action is constant. And there is enough building of his locale that I can choose to think of this as a strategy game. But mostly I walk around now wondering why I'm not getting prompts saying "you've discovered...."
A thoroughly enjoyable, fast-paced and adventurous beginning to what I hope will be the joyful birth of a new and epic world. I’m enthralled with the characters and love love love the brilliant & inspired melding of RPG into a literary style all of the author’s own creation. As soon as I finish writing this review I’ll be downloading & reading the 2nd book in the series and can’t wait to see what happens next.
I read all 8 books to date and had to come back and write a review for the first book. This was the first litRPG I've read. Since reading, I have come to love this fledgling genre. I tend to compare all others to this series though. I really love this series as it completely pulled a character into a game or "the land". It's tied to this world, but completely separate all the same. The author develops his characters throughout the novels and doesn't forget little details from one book to another. Many other authors forget the details, but this one does a masterful job of tying in everything. Another item to note is how he keeps it unpredictable, which is refreshing.
