This series keeps getting better. I love the idea of using dead celebrities as characters - Hart Crane, Emily Dickinson, and Ezra Pound. Awesome.
This is a really great book that lets you look into the life of the dead Washington A. Roebling. With what opened the book I now have the desire to push a Volkswagen into lake, especially if its pink. I personally recommend reading this book especially if you wish to understand the Lawyers In Hell series. Very readable and entertaining.

His Satanic Majesty orders God's most tested soul, Job, omsbudsman of Hell, to represent Washington A. Roebling in his appeal of wrongful sentencing in Hell. Roebling, in life was the man responsible for overseeing the building of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, which caused the death of many of those who worked on the bridge, including Roebling himself. The very guilt of those deaths seems to have landed him in Hell where he is doomed to forever search for his faithful wife, Emily who is not with him in Hell.
Job, with the help of three famous poets, Ezra pound, Emily Dickinson, and Hart Crane, must all face thier inner demons and try to find if there is redemption enough in their hearts and souls for them to help Roebling escape Hell. Each poet must complete their magnum opus of verse in hell through a series of adventures in order to help Job find salvation for Washington Roebling. To add to the fun, Marilyn Monroe, recently fired from her job as Satan's secretary, is looking to find her own salvation in the form of helping Emily Dickinson find her new identity. The events take the reader though Hell's many timeless landscapes, from the shores of the New World as Cortes attempts to wrest golden riches from the natives, to the battle for Altaforte with Richard the Lion-Hearted. Even the Brooklyn Bridge takes on a life of its own as it is rebuilt in New Hell while Leviathan stirs below in the Sea of Sighs.
It is a fun, fast-paced read that will take you from the pits of Hell's despair and damnation to the pinnacles of Heaven's hope and salvation. A wild ride of action, adventure, poetry, and an exploration into the psyche of the characters and what their own personal salvation means as they all seek their own form of redemption in Hell.
There are books, and there are books. There are plots, and there are plots. Bridge Over Hell is one of the later. The plot is, well, complex, with surprises at every turn. You see parts of Hell that the series has never visited before.

And there's poetry. Hellishly beautiful poetry.

All of which doesn't really describe the book, but how do you summarize 100,000 words in a simple review? Simply, you can't.

This is the best Heroes in Hell novel. Seriously.
This book is nothing short of genius. The many intricate subplots propel each other like interlocked gears in a well-oiled infernal machine. Time and space cease to exist as historical figures, theological icons, historical events, pop idols, and even well-known fictitious characters all converge in endless aspects of hell (and tiny shreds of hope). Shed your preconceived notions of virtue, honor, deceit, and facts...and hold onto your seats, because you're in for a compellingly fantastic read!
